Our collaborations with "ceramiques almadies", with the historic group 100% dakar and with various local artists was a first sign of the cultural renaissance of senegal. After a while the dakar biennale was founded. 100% dakar group, founded by bernard beauduin and hervé monteil, ( later hervé monteil and vincent michea ) was rewarded by the president-poet leopold sedar senghor for his work about racial integration. The dakar biennale was founded in 1989 as a theoretical project; in 1990 it was devoted to literature and in 1992 to the visual arts. In 1993 its structure changed, and in 1996 it became only pan-african dak'art.
