Freaks (1932)

The infamous, controversial, cult-horror classic about a band of circus freaks that exact revenge upon a beautiful aerialist and her strongman lover after enduring humiliation and exploitation. Based on Ted Robbins story Spurs. It was meant to out-horror Frankenstein but was so successful that it was repeatedly banned. Browning's film may be a shocker but it is never intended to be exploitative since the Freaks are the only compassionate, loyal, and loving people around.
