19th century French Giltwood and Verre Èglomisè Barometer. A verre èglomisè (French for “gilded glass”) barometer is a decorative barometer featuring elaborate glasswork and involving painting or engraving on the reverse side of glass, then applying gold leaf which creates a reflective image with a rich metallic sheen. This barometer frame is richly decorated with bouquets of flowers, vine branches, shells and palm leaves. The Èglomisè Dial features a red and white background, signed BOCHARD FILS.
