Maharam Bear, Harbor

Bear in mind, high-end contemporary design can also include toys. The Maharam Bear is a perfect example. Created by architecture and design magazine PIN-UP in collaboration with Maharam’s design team, this leather bear refines the teddy bear archetype but it’s just as cuddly as a plush toy. The minimalist design recreates the familiar shape with only the essential forms and details. Each Maharam Bear is made from Italian vegetable tanned nubuck leather with a matte finish achieved with a sanding technique, and a recycled polyester filling. Cut and then sewn, filled and assembled by hand, these bears are beautifully crafted to become not only cherished toys or design objects, but family heirlooms.
