Obsidian is formed when molten lava cools rapidly, sometimes mixing with other materials in the process. Nathan DeHart creates abstracted geological studies of outcroppings where this mixture is at its most dramatic. The stone is striated with honey tones and flecked with white, rough outer textures contrasting with glassy black patches.
