Neo-Classical Period Painted On Marble, And Giltwood Plaques

A sensational and high quality pair of French 18th century Neo-Classical Period painted on marble, and Giltwood plaques. Each wonderfully hand painted on marble plaque is set within its original Giltwood frame with an interior mottled and beaded band before the reeded designed, and egg and dart outer border. One panel depicts a winged Cupid holding a flowing green ribbon while a reclining Nymph and a standing muse are holding the other end. Dancing and playful young putti are in the middle looking in each direction. The other panel showcases a Muse playing a harp next to Cupid who standing proudly with his bow enjoying the music. He is watching Psyche while she dances with one foot poised en pointe while holding up her flowing scarf.
