Postcard of the Cornish Riviera Express of the Great Western Railway, hauled by a Saint class 4-6-0 during the period between 1904 and 1907 when it was rebuilt by G. J. Churchward as a 4-4-2 with French design features, many of which he later adopted. The caption reads The finest and most luxurious train in the country. Runs daily between Paddington and Plymouth - 246 miles without a stop in 4 hours 25 minutes. It is equipped with every modern convenience, including valets and ladies' maids.
