One of the world’s first electro-mechanical flip clocks, the Solari Cifra 3 dates back to the 1960s. Created by renowned architect and designer Gino Valle, this table flip clock is emblematic of 20th century design. The timepiece works with a patented rotary movement that shows the time by flipping split-flaps with minute and hour markers. No hands needed, only movement and the distinctive flip sound that have made Cifra 3 so iconic and a collector’s item. Made with a black cylindrical case, this version of the beloved flip clock comes with black cards that feature white digits. A curved front provides a perfect view of the current time, while a manual time adjustment system offers an easy way to change the individual flaps. This design has been included in the MoMA’s permanent collection in the 1990s. Cifra 3 is entirely produced in Italy.
