A design armchair with soft, generous contours, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in the 1960s to bring home casual comfort, is swathed in premium Japanese denim, in a limited edition that elevates its unconventional spirit.‎The denim is processed to make it soft and comfortable.‎ A special treatment lends it the typical faded look of worn jeans.‎ The metal structure holds the armchair in a vise-like grip, creating several different contemporary colour pairings.‎The denim version of Soriana maintains the same sustainable approach as its namesake and comes with circular materials for both the structure and the padding.‎ Even the denim is processed in an eco-friendly manner, limiting the use of water.‎BASERecyclable CARB* certified wood panel, with low-level formaldehyde emissions.‎PADDINGIn BioFoam® microspheres (inner) and 100% recycled blown PET fibre from Plastic Bank® (outer).‎CLAMPIn powder-coated steel, in blue, black or white.‎A true style icon, Soriana was designed in 1969 by Afra and Tobia Scarpa and awarded a Compasso d’Oro prize the following year.‎ Defined by its abundant curves, Soriana is wrapped with generous upholstery that is fixed with a giant metal brace to form relaxed creases around its entire body.‎ The piece’s aesthetics are further enriched by a quilted effect created with upholstered buttons, both on the seat and backrest cushions.‎Cassina has now introduced a selection of chromatic combinations that match lush fabrics and soft leathers with a black, blue, burgundy, green and white painted metal frame.‎ To meet the demands of the fans of the original version, it will also be available with a chrome brace.‎Available as an armchair, chaise-longue, a two or three-seater sofa and pouf, Soriana’s unites comfort with an informal style.‎Soriana still today maintains the same design concept and characteristic aesthetic allure while its construction and materials have been completely redeveloped for an eco-friendly version that has the aim of creating a lower environmental impact and a higher level of comfort thanks to the work carried out by Cassina LAB, the collaboration between the Cassina Research and Development Centre and Poli.‎design at the Milan Polytechnic.‎The original, polyurethane structure of this version has been completely substituted with a series of bags filled with microspheres made from BioFoam®, the first patented foam to have an organic base made from biopolymers produced from natural resources.‎ This material is hardwearing and suitable for long-term use while it is also biodegradable and can be industrially composted.‎The seat’s comfort is further heightened thanks to a 100% recycled blown fibre padding produced from PET recovered from Plastic Bank®.‎ Thanks to the involvement of local communities, plastic is collected before it reaches the sea, favouring a conscious and circular economy.‎ The same material is also used for the lining’s padding which is wrapped around the structure like a soft quilt.‎
