The Blob (1958)

Sci-fi thriller about a small town's fight against a slimy jello invader from space. Slightly rebellious McQueen (in his first starring role) redeems himself when he saves the town with quick action. Low-budget, horror/teen-fantasy became a camp classic. Other names considered included The Glob, The Glob that Girdled the Globe, The Meteorite Monster, The Molten Meteorite, and The Night of the Creeping Dead. Followed by a worthless sequel in 1972, Son of Blob, and a worthwhile remake in 1988.
