The Mark Of Zorro (1940)

$42

Great Big Canvas

The dashing Power swashbuckles his way through this wonderfully acted and directed romp. He plays the foppish son of a 19th-century California aristocrat who is secretly the masked avenger of the oppressed peons. Bromberg plays the wicked governor, with the beautiful niece (Darnell) beloved by Power, and Rathbone is supremely evil as his cruel minion. Lots of swordplay with a particularly exciting duel to the death between Rathbone and Power. Based on the novel The Curse of Capistrano by Johnston McCulley. Remake of the 1921 silent film and followed by a number of other Zorro incarnations.
