The Perfect Storm (2000)

Based on the true story of the Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat lost at sea in 1991 during a freak storm off the coast of Newfoundland--one of the biggest storms of the century. Film briefly sets up the backgrounds of the six men who will be the captain and crew on the tragic voyage, but not even Clooney and Wahlberg can compete with the watery special effects and it turns into a stereotypical disaster flick.
