101 Spaghetti Chair With Ottoman And Calder Table Lamp By Belotti For Alias & Franch For Metalarte, 1970s, Set Of 3

Chairish

$3,603

Italian meets Spanish postmodernism: Alias's wonderful Spaghetti Chair with its rare matching footstool and the flexible "Calder" table lamp by Enrique Franch for the Spanish design house Metalarte. Alias achieved fame in 1979 with Giandomenico Belotti's Spaghetti Chair. The woven, spaghetti-like seat and backrest not only give the chair its name, but also its comfortable feel and elegance, thanks to its refined "al dente" design. Its slim silhouette makes it a perfect fit almost anywhere. And so, like the Calder lamp, it became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The metal desk or table lamp from the Spanish design firm Metalarte rests on a tapered base. A pendant hangs from it, its ends capped with black lacquered metal spheres that define the design: one as a counterweight, the other as an adjustable halogen diffuser. As early as the 1970s, Metalarte began collaborating with creatives, culminating in the creation of the "Calder" table lamp by Enrique Franch in 1974. The "Calder" was Metalarte's first halogen lamp and became an extraordinary success. It was also the first Spanish design lamp to be included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and remains a modern classic to this day. Its simple, minimalist design blends seamlessly into various interior styles, making it a versatile choice for home offices, workspaces, or even bedside tables. One of the desk lamp's outstanding features is its exceptional adjustability: equipped with a sophisticated articulated arm and a swiveling head, the light can be directed precisely where you need it. The lamp's height and width, up to 80 cm, are naturally adjustable due to its design.
