Stunning pair of vintage light caramel Barcelona chairs with matching footstools designed by Mies Van Der Rome in 1929 and manufactured by Knoll circa mid 20th Century. One of the most recognized objects of the last Century, and an icon of the Modern movement, the Barcelona chair. The Barcelona chair has a button tufted back and seat, leather panel support, and a polished stainless steel frame. These chairs have recently been meticulously restored, including replacement of the cushion foam, with best efforts made to maintain the original unique and hard to reproduce patina. An original Knoll fabric tag is attached to one of the chairs while the other is marked KP. Tthe caramel colored cushions for all four items are in ‘light-touch’ restored vintage condition but otherwise perfect. The frames on this Barcelona set are absolutely spotless and, as one would expect from early production Barcelonas, they are stainless steel - as demonstrated by their heavy weight -as opposed to lower grade chrome. Furthermore, as proof of their age and early production is the use of brass screws across all four items to fasten the straps as opposed to the omnipresent rivets. Early in the production, in order to contain costs, screws were replaced with rivets.
