Directoire style bergere characterized by its transition from the more ornate Louis XVI style to the more rigid Empire style. Key features in this chair include a loose seat cushion, scrolled back, which curves gracefully backward, ebonized frame with parcel-gilding, ornamental pillars supporting the arms and terminating with decorated spheres. The chair with manchettes, paneled upholstery and all decorated with gold/sage trims. The crest and apron both with carved medallions. The silk damask upholstery decorated with wreaths and Napoleonic bees. The chair is supported on splayed back legs and baluster form front legs.
