Subtle coloration in shades of gray and brown in the new upholstery on this antique chair. The backrest is a very finely woven artisanal Zapotec tapestry from Oaxaca; the seat and back are a dark brown leather. Brass nail heads along the top. Like most Mexicans, I am descended from both indigenous people of our beautiful country -- in my case probably Aztecs or Tlaxcalans -- and Spanish colonists. I envision some of the most beautiful expressions of Mexican aesthetics as combinations of the amazing beauty of traditional Native American and Spanish craftsmanship.
