We are delighted to offer for sale 1 of 30 stunning circa 1900 French Giltwood Bergère banquet chairs from Spencer House which was built for the Spencer family between 1756-1766 for John, the first Earl Spencer, currently resides Charles Spencer the 9th Earl Spencer, which is still owned by Lady Diana Spencer’s family, the history of the items is that Lord Rothschild in the 1980’s leased the property, at that time the house was restored, the pieces furnished the offices, meeting rooms and the newly restored State rooms. All chairs have various stamps and signatures to the bases, there is a crown stamp with Veagh under, a JMA stamp, and various different signatures under, some seem to be the craftsman, others say Lord something, I can’t make it out The chairs are all in wonderful vintage period order, the style dates back to the Regency period, they are highly decorative and very stylish pieces that have transitioned generations Dimensions Height:- 83.5cm Width:- 40.5cm Depth:- 35cm Seat height:- 43cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point.
