Armchairs Thonet No. 562 Attributed To Gustav Siegel From Thonet No. 178, 1927, Set Of 3

Chairish

$3,823

Wery good original condition with a pleasant patine of age. Museum-quality condition! Solid, can be used normally. The seating was designed by Arch. Gustav Siegel between 1926 and 1927. The only known armchairs of this model so far!!! (only chairs have been found so far) In the past, this design was incorrectly attributed to Otto Prutscher by the Vienna Auction House. Since then, many other reputable dealers have taken it over. However, newly discovered documents from the Thonet company archives clearly attribute the authorship to Arch. Gustav Siegl. The author of the table design is unknown, however, it comes from the same period, and could have been designed specifically for this similar sieatings from 1920s (there are known about 12 designs of similar chairs and armchairs made by Gustav Siegel, from this period) This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
