Biancamano armchairs designed by Gio Ponti and Lio Carminati in 1950.The chairs are in excellent condition, reed/wicker.The name comes from the Italian liner, launched in 1925, count Biancamano, which made its maiden voyage on the prestigious Genoa-New York route. About two decades after the launch, the ship was refitted as a passenger ship. In this occasion some of the most important artists, architects and decorators of the time were called to collaborate. The main rooms were assigned to ten different designers, including painters Massimo Campigli and Mario Sironi, sculptor Marcello Mascherini, and enameler Paolo De Poli. Gio Ponti himself, in charge of the furnishings, wrote, "Count Biancamano, through the parade of its rooms is an expression of different temperaments: this gives variety to the ship."
