Vintage Danish mid century modern Model 156 dining, desk, or accent chair, produced by Søborg Møbelfabrik c. 1950s. The mix of teak and oak provides a wonderful contrast in colors and grain patterns while the paper cord seats add another dimension of visual texture. Mogensen’s pieces often combine elements of Shaker construction – such as the mortise and tenon joinery at the top of the front leg posts – with Danish modern aesthetic, making his designs highly distinctive and stylistically versatile. The chair is structurally solid with light vintage wear throughout. The paper cord seat was recently rewoven. This chair does not bear a maker's mark. The materials, construction, and dimensions are dispositive for Mogensen's Model 156 arm chair.
