The designer of these chairs slightly distorted their proportions to create intriguing seating that is sculptural in feel. The backs are a polygons with just the slightest arc in the seat backs as they taper to the top. Carved walnut arms are wider near the seat back, with a coved edge, before narrowing near the front of the chairs. Details such as these were a characteristic of Edward Wormley's designs for Dunbar, although we have not been able to document their exact creator.
