Détente armchair by Maxime Old, a contemporary edition by the Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery. A sharp angled armchair in fabric standing on steel legs. The back of the chair is divided in two sections. Designed for the first class lounge of the ocean-liner in France, in 1961. Part of the "Paquebot" collection. A "Certificate of authenticity" is provided by the gallery. Dimensions: 77 x 77 cm x 88 cm (in height) 30.3" x 30.3" x 34.6" (in height)The finishings are made to measure with also a possibility of a personalizing the leather with embroidery.Maxime Old is a French designer and interior architect born in 1910 and died in 1991. He represents the French scene of modern furniture having designed more than 3000 creations during his career. He started his creative path at Ruhlmann (A French Art Deco Furniture designer) after graduating from the University of Boulle in Paris.Maxime Old’s career lies on the years where big changes happening in the interior architecture feild, from Art Deco to Bauhaus and from Bauhaus finally to Modernisme. He founded his own atelier very soon and begins to work in interior architecture upon request from clients. His Paquebot Collection was featured in the French Ocean-Liners, the City Hall of Rouen, the Hotel Marhaba in Casablanca and eventually the Airport in Marseille.Today the Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery edits the originals designs of Maxime Old, which at the time were not produced . The pieces produced are therefore the first editions based on the drawings from between the 1940s and 1980s.
