French Elm Armchair, 1960s - 2 Available

1st Dibs

$5,800

Crafted from richly grained elm, this 1960s French armchair is defined by its architectural frame and low, grounded stance. Broad plank arms extend forward in a confident line, supported by angular uprights and a substantial base that anchors the form. The joinery is direct and unembellished, allowing the tonal variation and expressive grain of the elm to take precedence.New custom seat and back cushions soften the geometry, tailored precisely within the frame. Upholstered in a richly textured woven fabric in shades of blue, rust, ivory, and muted slate, the textile introduces depth and quiet movement against the warm brown of the oiled elm.Equally suited to a reading corner, living space, or paired arrangement.Sold and priced individually.Condition: In great vintage condition overall. The wood frame shows minor surface scuffs and light scratches consistent with age and use. Our in-house restoration team completed a partial refinish and structural repair, carefully preserving the integrity and original character of the piece.New custom cushions have been fabricated with medium-density foam for supportive, comfortable seating. They are upholstered in a richly textured, multi-tonal woven fabric.
