Here is a stunning carved wood armchair in the French Empire, Louis XVI style. The chair has a beautiful shape - notice the curve in the bottom seat and the backrest. The wood has carved details on the armrests and fluted carved details throughout. I love the carved florets and the taper to the front legs. I believe this chair to be late 1880-early 1920's. It has coil construction on the seat, as shown. The upholstery shows some age and wear and would benefit from cleaning or reupholstery.
