A lovely pair of carved French Provincial armchairs featuring finely carved crest and seat rails, with details in cream paint against a striking blue. Soft curves and a stately bearing are the hallmarks of the Régence style, which predated the Rococo in France. These are early 20th century chairs, well carved with the motifs of the early 18th century. Each has a caned back and a newly upholstered comfortable loose cushion in an 18th century style woven fabric with a birds and branches motif.
