Late 19th century pair of George III style arm chairs, likely Philadelphia. A very fine Colonial Revival movement pair, often attributed to Philadelphia cabinetmakers at the height of the revival movement. Mahogany of great weight. Superb hand made, hand carved chairs after the 1755 designs in the Director of Thomas Chippendale. Broad 18th century proportions, often lacking in these revival era pieces. One with an old backsplat repair & one with restored medial stretcher. 26" w., 24" d., 37.75" h.
