Designed by Theo Ruth and made by Artifort, The Netherlands in the 1940s. The chair is modern but with a playful expression and many fine details like the carved armrests with a baroque touch. The oakwood has an amazing grain structure and the leather a deep and beautiful patina. The leather back is secured by brass nails. In 1936 Ruth joined Wagemans and Van Tuinen, first as a furniture maker and then, from 1939, as head of the design and development department. Ruth was the first permanent designer at Artifort furniture. He made a name for himself with expert designs, especially of traditional furniture for the living room. Ruth headed the design department until his death in 1971. A rare to find design classic in beautiful original condition; a must-have addition to your furniture collection.
