Exquisite pair of late nineteenth early 20th century French Louis XVI style armchairs or fauteuils, constructed of solid walnut, with beautifully hand carved details including lovely cream and pale rose silk upholstery, hand carved classic motifs of an interlaced scrolling and floral pattern, acanthus leaves and overlapping quatrefoils on the armrests, and rosettes at the die joints. The seat backs are "a la reine," or in the queen's style, with gently inclined square seat backs supported by fluted columns in the front. The seats rest on tapered fluted legs.
