Mid-Century Danish Armchair In Teak & Oak By Pater Hvidt For France & Søn / France & Daverkosen, 1950s

Danish armchair designed by peter hvidt and orla mølgaard nielsen for france & daverkosen, model fd 145, dating from the 1950s. This is a beautifully balanced piece, showcasing the designers’ signature blend of simplicity and refinement. The striking combination of solid oak and rich teak, most notably in the sculpted arms and teak-capped feet, makes this chair stand out as a thoughtful and elegant example of danish craftsmanship. the chair has been thoroughly and sympathetically restored. The frame was lightly stripped, cleaned, and refinished using traditional french polish, followed by a soft wax finish to bring out the depth and variation in the wood grain. The original sprung cushions have been carefully retained and reupholstered in a textured teal fabric from kvadrat, chosen for its colour, durability, and subtle ridge relief. Every detail has been considered to preserve the chair’s charm while ensuring long-term comfort and use. this danish armchair is a refined and rare design, and a great example of how mixed woods can be used to great visual effect. As with all of my pieces, it has been restored with time, care, and skill, offering not just a seat but a lasting piece of design history. A truly special danish armchair. h 84 x w 63 x d 78 cm seat height 45 cm this piece has an attribution mark, i am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
