A rare pair of 18th c. French Louis XVI fauteuils in original paint by Pierre REMY (1724-98). Chairs are circa 1780. Pierre was a master craftsman located in Paris and his work spanned Louis XVI to Louis XVI styles. One of the chairs is stamped "P. REMY" located below on the rear crossbar. It is common for only one chair in a set to be stamped. Curved medallion backs , curved arms, and fluted frames, standing on tapered and fluted legs. Original upholstery, covered in polka dot embroidered silk in good condition.
