Pair of 18th Century French Louis XV Walnut Fauteuils, Carved Provincial Armchairs A matched pair of genuine 18th-century French Louis XV fauteuils, hand-carved in solid walnut in the provincial style. Each chair features a shaped, molded frame with carved floral cresting to the top rail and matching carved floral cartouche to the seat rail apron, raised on gracefully curved cabriole legs. The frames are constructed using traditional pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery, consistent with genuine period French cabinetmaking rather than later reproduction construction. The pair has been recently and beautifully reupholstered in a soft blue, gold, and cream striped fabric with contrast piping, offering a fresh, elegant update while preserving all original carved wood elements. A wonderful pair for a living room, bedroom, or as statement seating in an entryway. Dimensions: 26"W x 22"D x 34 1/2"H; 17" seat height Condition: Some slight finish discoloration consistent with age. Newly reupholstered with clean upholstery showing only minor small spots from handling/use. Structurally sound with traditional pegged joinery intact. Support blocks of wood added to the back. Materials: Solid walnut, new upholstery fabric
