Pair Of Antique Mahogany Victorian Parlor Throne Armchairs On Castors, Circa 1880's

Chairish

$1,062

Wonderful Antique American 19th century seating from a long-held private estate collection. A matching pair of late 19th-century carved wood Victorian throne style parlor chairs on castors, crafted in mahogany, possibly walnut, circa 1880s. These chairs feature wide seats, carved crest rails, hand-carved detailing, and deeply button-tufted backs, hallmarks of high-quality American Victorian craftsmanship. Tenon joints and wooden peg construction suggest pre-machine standardized furniture. Velvet upholstery in a warm rose-aubergine tone with gimp trim tape edging, widely used in the late 1800's. Cabriole legs and gently scrolled arms give the pair a refined silhouette that works beautifully in both traditional and curated modern interiors. Notably, the chairs have fully finished upholstered backs, a hallmark of higher-quality furniture intended for center-room placement rather than wall use. The frames retain the original patina, showcasing the craftsmanship and materials of the era. Sturdy and comfortable.
