This lovely pair of 1940's Thonet bentwood lounge chairs was recently reupholstered in an amazing performance fabric from HBF textiles (Merci Boucle in their Du Jour colorway). It's a nubby fabric in a lovely shade of bright blue that feels like wool but it has 100,000 double rub performance. The chairs feature a bentwood arms and legs that have been lacquered in black (the arms and legs are in original condition with some imperfections - see close up images). There is a photo of the original tag that appeared at the bottom of each chair but was unfortunately lost during the re-upholstery process. These are indeed Thonet chairs. They are heavy, solidly constructed and super comfortable. (HBF's website has images that show the color more accurately.) They were originally purchased for the lobby of a hotel. We can see why they were used for high traffic areas. They can stand up decades of use and still look timeless. We have several more of these chairs in the original vinyl upholstery in a separate listing.
