Pair of Late 19th century Louis XIV Style Fauteil Armchairs by the legendary Maison Jansen. Maison Jansen was an interior decoration house located in Paris and is considered the first truly global design firm. These magnificent hand-carved beechwood armchairs are meant to look distressed and have an off-white color with gilt accents on the acanthus leaf carvings on the front, back, arms, and seats. Being hand carved and hand painted, the chairs are not identical. The "Jansen" mark is engraved on the back seat under the muslin of one of the chairs.
