Beautiful Rare Pair of Swedish Gilt and Painted Wooden Armchairs, ca. 1790. Exquisitely carved scrolled and curved frame with distal part of each arm terminating into gilt eagle heads. Gilt trim throughout cream colored frame. Curved and tapered legs. Currently upholstered in red and tan linen upholstery on back and seat. Gilt eagle heads have intricately carved details, further enhancing the chair's ornate appeal. These chairs were not only functioning pieces of furniture, but also statements of wealth and status, often found in the homes of Swedish nobility and royalty in the 18th century.
