Pair of armchairs, model 209 (also called Wiener Stuhl), made by Thonet, one of which is marked. This is therefore a genuine item. because the famous architect used the model extensively in his projects in the 1920s. Swiss architect Le Corbusier was fascinated with it and used it in many of his buildings (it sometimes get the nickname "model Le Corbusier"), for example the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart in 1927. He once remarked that this chair "possesses nobility.“ Frame in black lacquered bentwood with rattan seat. These examples were most likely made in the 1990s. Both appear in very good vintage condition with light light ware consistent with age and use. Slight traces of ware on the armrests.
