Tulip Armchair, Fully Upholstered

A brilliant example of late-1950s aesthetic, the fully upholstered Tulip armchair is one of Eero Saarinen's most iconic pieces. In creating it, Saarinen first deconstructed the chair to its simplest elements. Then he built it back up, focusing not inwardly on the chair itself, but rather on how best to complement the room surrounding it.
