$1,466

Bauhaus Armchair By Mucke Melder Circa 1930s - Price is per chair (1 available) - Sprung seats and back rest - Chrome plated tubular steel cantilever frames - New Red velvet upholstery - Model FN21 - Produced by Mucke Melder - Czech ~ 1930s - 84cm deep x 58cm wide x 75cm tall - 45cm seat height Mücke-Melder Based in Fryštát (a city now adjoined administratively to the city of Karviná), Mücke-Melder produced work heavily inspired by the contemporaneous designs of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer, and Le Corbusier, among others, which enchanted the Czech avant-garde at the time. In the same sleek and functional Bauhaus style, Mücke-Melder produced tables , desks , and casegoods , as well as some licensed updates of Thonet designs, often favoring tubular steel and finishes of copper, nickel, and chrome. An emblematic selection of Mücke-Melder’s oeuvre includes the chrome-plated tubular steel FN 21 Famos Armchair (1930), which owes its form, unmistakably, to Mies van der Rohe’s iconic cantilevered Brno Chair, designed ca. 1929-1930 for his nearby and renowned Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic. Condition Report Fully restored with new upholstery, chrome is in good condition with only minor cosmetic wear. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
