A magnificent example of Italian craftsmanship, this grand armoire was handmade in the Veneto region by the renowned artisans of Guido Zichele in 1991.for Bloomingdales. Drawing inspiration from 18th-century French Provincial and Italian country forms, this piece features Zichele’s hand-distressed "Antique" finish, achieving a depth of patina rarely seen in modern furniture. The armoire is defined by its dramatic "chapeau de gendarme" arched doors, hand-carved dentil molding, and a central floral rosette. The hardware is equally impressive, featuring elongated, hand-cast brass escutcheons and traditional barrel hinges. The solid wood construction and hand-applied pitting and "wormhole" distressing are hallmarks of the Zichele workshop’s dedication to historical accuracy.
