This Antique Chinese Red Lacquer Cabinet dating from the 19th century is crafted from wood and features a red lacquer finish, which is achieved by applying multiple layers of lacquer (made from the sap of the Chinese lacquer tree, pigmented with cinnabar) over a core material. The upper panels of the cabinet doors display elaborate carved designs of tiger and pine tree, which are prominent motifs in Chinese art and symbolism. This red cabinet traditionally given as wedding gifts in China during the 18th century and beyond, symbolizing wealth, status, and wishes for a prosperous union. It has two main doors with a removable central clasp, one removable shelf inside upper portion of armorie, two drawers outside and two drawers inside at middle offering storage space.
