This Antique Chinese Red Lacquer Cabinet dating from the 19th century is crafted from wood and features a red lacquer finish, which is achieved by applying multiple layers of lacquer (made from the sap of the Chinese lacquer tree, pigmented with cinnabar) over a core material. The upper panels of the cabinet doors display elaborate carved designs of tiger and pine tree, which are prominent motifs in Chinese art and symbolism.
