Early 20th Century Irish Flame Mahogany Bow Front Armoire In The Style Of Robert Strahan & Co.
Chairish$4,650
On offer is a beautiful quality, two-door, bow fronted mahogany wardrobe/armoire with the top having a dentil cornice over doors with oval flame mahogany veneered inlaid panels. The lower portion has a single drawer, all raised on downturned bracketed feet. This piece is very much in the style of Robert Strahan (d. 1850), a prominent Irish cabinet maker and the founder in 1776 of Robert Strahan & Co. One of Dublin's most prestigious, this furniture firm supplied major Irish country houses and exhibited in London during the 18th and 19th centuries. The company remained family-run across generations, which included his son Robert and grandson Robert W. Strahan, finally closing in 1969.
