18th century carved french yew wood and chestnut armoire circa 1780. this sort of armoire is also known as a marriage armoire. cornice and front are profusely inlaid with a leaf design, with a snake flowing up the middle of the doors, with pierced metal escutheon plate. Rare addition to this piece is a carved right facing eagle to the lower frieze. Standing on scrolled legs. double doors open to reveal a single oak shelf, which is in 3 sections. expected surface marks from age, but strong and sturdy and ready for everyday use.
