It is intended as a whimsical reference to the outsized stone ashtrays that were attention-grabbing mainstays in many homes and offices between the 1960s and 1980s.The form is streamlined and robustly circular, with a discreet concavity but without the grooves traditionally used for placement of smokes-in-progress. The result is a versatile, highly tactile object that can easily accommodate smoking materials or serve as a receptacle for small everyday objects such as keys, paper clips or loose coins.Henry Wilson's work combines a rational, democratic utility with an element of sculptural expression. There is a clear form and function in our products, but it’s important they also have feeling. We are interested in the awkward beauty that comes from something made by hand.
