A Very Fine Antique Renaissance Revival Carved Dry Bar Cabinet, By Berkey & Gay Attributed to the Berkey and Gay Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan Item is not marked by the manufacturer. We have handled multiple items of Berkey & Gay furniture, and the quality of their work is evident in this piece. Made circa 1915-1930 Very finely carved Neo-Renaissance revival drop down cabinet door. Carved Latin motifs, and familial crests. One small skirt drawer, on a trestle type base. The drop down door opens to reveal a large open compartment. No shelves, never had anything. Its original purpose is that of a liquor cabinet or dry bar. Truly a statement piece in any room where it is placed. 100% original as found condition. Made from solid mahogany wood, with oak secondary drawer linings. Original wrought iron door clasp and lid supports. The drawer has brass pulls. We have a key, albeit is not original, it merely helps open the lid. Size: 37 3/4” wide, 17 1/2” deep, 47 3/4” tall Condition: excellent overall condition! Original as found condition. One very minor chip of wood missing on the top corner near the back. Excellent preserved condition. Minor estate soiling, and typical use and wear marks associated with age and use. a small chip of wood missing from the top side. Retains a key, however it is not the correct key. The fall front door will not lock. but the key is needed to open the door.
