A very fine antique Italian Florentine Renaissance Revival carved cabinet on stand, circa 1880. The cabinet has some of the finest carvings we have seen on a late 19th century cabinet, In two sections. The top with a stepped crown and a carved 'brickwork' band below, the hinged front (with original lock & key) is flanked by a pair of carved nude caryatid supports. The drop front is lavishly carved with a Bacchanalian scene of cherubs with a lion cub, and other gathered around the flames of a Roman brazier. To the interior is a later fitted steel cabinet that will receive standard size wine and liquor bottles, glasses etc, the drop front acts as a surface to pour and prepare drinks. Both ends of the cabinet are carved with a crest and flanked by a pair of mythical beasts. The stand/base is equally lavishly carved, with large floral rosettes and significant lion's paw feet, original finish, great patina and excellent condition. The cabinet is very robust, stable and substantial in it's construction, ready to grace your home, a fantastic talking point for your guests.
