Serving Trolley Attributed To André Groult, France, 1925-1940

Chairish

$4,205

The tea trolley is attributed to André Groult. A very similar model with marquetry is known from the 1930s. He had already designed lacquered furniture, such as his well-known folding side table, around 1924. During this period, Groult created modern, elegant, and practical designs with clear geometry and no ornamentation. For Groult, innovation was not necessarily devoid of ornamentation. High-quality materials and craftsmanship, as well as rich decorations and colors, are typical of many of his pieces. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
