Early 19th Century Sheraton Carved Mahogany 3 Drawer Dressing Table With Barley Twist Legs & Mirror
Chairish$1,800
An antique Sheraton style dressing table, crafted from carved mahogany, dating to approximately 1830. This distinguished piece embodies the refined elegance and classical proportions characteristic of the early 19th-century Sheraton period. The rectangular top rests above a bank of three drawers, each fitted with classic brass pull hardware, offering practical storage for personal effects. The drawers are arranged with two smaller drawers flanking a central, slightly larger drawer, a common configuration for such pieces. The table is supported by four finely turned barley twist legs, a distinctive and decorative hallmark of the period, which descend to elegant turned feet. A practical lower shelf connects the legs, enhancing both stability and utility while providing additional display or storage space. Surmounting the main table structure is a rectangular tilting mirror, gracefully set within a mahogany frame. The mirror is supported by a pair of barley twist uprights, mirroring the design of the legs, and features brass knobs for adjustable viewing angles. The quality of the mahogany and the detailed carving of the barley twist elements are indicative of superior craftsmanship from its era. Measures - 64.5"H x 35.25"W x 19"D
