Exceptional 19c French Louis XVI type by Parisian maker, Hugnet. Hand carved beechwood with newer Kravet fabric upholstering (fine condition, slight kitty handiwork on footboard noticed only by touch), carved basket of flowers on the ribbon carved headboard, ribbon carved footboard (some repairs) with draped garland carvings, original ornate siderails extended to fit a queen mattress as pictured. Low unobtrusive footboard, 27", lower than most mattresses. We stripped the worn original paint finish to the underlying gesso coat leaving just enough for a washed look. A solid and conversation worthy queen bed fit for a queen, this had been in the family for 2 generations.
