This is a richly carved 19th century Swedish Gustavian period bench, newly upholstered with a hand-stitched, tufted linen seat with nail head trim. The paint has been hand-scraped to reveal the original chalky paint surface with areas were the natural wood is showing through. There is a carved guilloché detail on the seat frame with paterae above tapered and fluted legs.
