At its core lies the concept of nigredo, a black and primordial matter understood as the unconscious principle of transformation. Stal draws on the archetype of the church pew. Set slightly lower than the Curul chair, it materialises the dominant/ dominated relationship that structures Christian mysticism. This piece embodies a scenography of power and devotion.About: Arthur Bitsch (b. 1996) is a French artist and designer. After graduating from the Saint-Etienne Beaux-Arts, he decided in 2021 to establish his creative studio in Strasbourg. He considers creation as a global discipline, where art, design, and space act as mediums and as vectors of meaning and symbols. By combining radical aesthetics with a mastery of industrial, artisanal, and contemporary know-how, he develops a singular visual language at the intersection of the technical, the metaphysical, and the sensitive. Pursuing an autonomous production grounded in an empirical approach, the pieces, produced in limited editions or as unique objects, explore various mediums: object, furniture, lighting, sculpture. These artifacts are the result of symbolic reflection, where each work becomes the receptacle of a concept, an idea. From this multidisciplinary perspective, embracing creation as a whole, Arthur Bitsch continues his research and commitment to a practice that questions materials, forms, and concepts.
